French President Emmanuel Macron conducted a state visit to Indonesia from May 27 to 29, 2025. This visit marks an important milestone in celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France. Over three days, a range of strategic agendas were carried out to strengthen partnerships in defense, energy, technology, and culture.

President Macron met directly with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss opportunities for cooperation in defense and technology. This bilateral meeting also paved the way for the signing of memoranda of understanding in the energy, education, and defense sectors. Key events included visits to Borobudur Temple and the Military Academy in Magelang, reflecting France’s appreciation for Indonesian heritage and military collaboration.

Traffic Arrangements and Public Advisory

To support the smooth running of state events, several main roads in Jakarta such as Sudirman, Thamrin, Gatot Subroto, Asia Afrika, and Gerbang Pemuda underwent traffic engineering. The Jakarta police advised the public to avoid these routes during the official motorcade and to follow officers’ instructions for everyone’s safety.

Indo-Pacific Relations in Focus

Beyond strengthening bilateral cooperation, France reaffirmed its commitment as a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region. President Macron also met with the ASEAN Secretary General in Jakarta to discuss regional stability and maritime security.
